On Sunday, we had the family over for Chinese food and cupcakes! No pictures of the food (shame on me!) but here is the cupcake ceremony...
He waited quite patiently...
(side note: as I look at these pictures, I'm sorry I didn't attend the Biggest Loser open casting call at the Washington Convention Center last weekend... *sigh*)
and finally, he was initially more interested in the candle than the cupcake. But once he realized how much better the cupcake (and accompanying ice cream) tasted, he made quick work of it!! No pictures of that either - WTH???
Then it was time to move on to the presents...
Some fun games from the Holmquist clan - Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders - CLASSICS!!!; a "soft" ball and bat from Fammy & Granddad, and a gift card to Stride Rite - time to get those summer shoes!!; a Toys R Us gift card from Mimi; a Build a Road set from Mommy & Daddy; a Diego Rescue Pack from Evan (and the next day we had to go back to Toys R Us to get Evan his own!!); and a monster truck from Maddy. A fine haul!!
Tuesday (March 9th) was Tyler's actual birthday. I sent him off to school where they gave him a party - with more cupcakes!! While he was there, I spent the afternoon tackling his bed!
Again with the hardware!!!
Here we go!
Relative to the other pieces of furniture, this one was quite easy, and had the fewest parts. 
George took it upon himself to inspect my work!
Pretty cool, eh? Now I just have to get the decorations on the walls, some real blinds, and some curtains up. Then it will be finished. Maybe by the end of next week.... Poor Evan - he'll have to wait a little longer for his room. I have ordered his furniture, but it is on back order until July. That should give me plenty of time to get the room painted!! Hopefully.....
This week I have also been working on "tummy time" with Maddy.

I could have waited for Mitch to get home, but I so wanted to have the bed all together and made for Tyler as a surprise when they got home. Needless to say, I was pretty sore when I went to bed that night!!

Believe it or not, the birthday celebration isn't over yet! This coming Sunday, we're heading over to The Little Gym where we are having a party with Tyler's classmates! 16 have RSVP'd in the affirmative. Should be a fun time! I've got 48 hours to get the goody bags assembled... perhaps between loads of laundry...
