Busy Sunday

Well, we had a very busy day today!! The day started with our weekly trip to the rec center (well, technically the day started hours before that since my boys aren't big sleepers, but that's a minor detail). Daddy and Evan hit the pool for swim lesson #3:
In the meantime, Tyler and I headed down the hall to the "soft room" for Zoom Around the Room! It's a class for 2-5 year olds and it's basically a free-for-all with a little bit of sitting in a circle and singing at the end. Tyler spent the majority of the 45 minute class in the ball pit. I had a very hard time getting him out of there! Unfortunately, there are no pictures because I couldn't take any since I was supervising Tyler, and Mitch was in the pool. Next week I'll try to get some pictures of the room before the class starts.

When we got home, after snack time, Tyler went down for a nap. Evan refused. So Daddy and Evan hung out while I went for a walk. It was a beautiful, warm afternoon, so Evan enjoyed a little deck time, sans pants:

When I got back, Evan had lunch, then fell asleep, then Tyler woke up and had lunch. That's usually the way it is - they nap in turns rather than at the same time. Although sometimes (like yesterday), they go down at the same time which is a nice break for Mommy and Daddy!!

When everyone was finally awake, we headed out again. The time had finally come for Evan to get a proper haircut. I had put it off long enough. Here are some before shots:

Yup, just a little shaggy! And ever since I did that not so great bang trim several weeks ago, Mitch kept saying he looked like he had a mullet and I couldn't have that!! Here is the big event:

Meanwhile, Tyler patiently lounged in the stroller snacking on Goldfish...
Evan was such a good boy!! He sat still for the whole time, well, until the very end when he'd finally had it. He didn't even freak out at the buzzer. And now my baby boy doesn't look like a baby anymore. :(
For those of you that think I dressed the boys up to go to Cartoon Cuts, you are wrong. They were dressed nicely because after the haircut, it was time to pay a visit to the Easter Bunny!!
The Easter Bunny was HUGE!!! In that costume, he must have been nine feet tall. I thought the boys would be petrified, but they weren't. In fact, Tyler didn't want to leave. I believe he would have sat on that bench all day if he could have.
When we got home, we decided to take advantage of the last bits of the warm afternoon and headed to the tot lot.

Phew!!! Big day! Lots of fun. And the boys went down this evening without too much fuss, so I guess we had the right amount of fresh air/activity to tucker them out properly!! Hopefully the weather will be even nicer next weekend and we can spend more time outside.

Time to finish all the chores and get myself off to bed!!

Welcome Spring!!

First, a programming note: I've added a cute little video to the "Happy Birthday Tyler" post (3/9/09). Mitch sang to Tyler after bath time and captured it on his Blackberry. At the very beginning of the video you can hear Tyler saying his own name, which I think is so cute!!

Yesterday was a beautiful day, albeit a bit chilly. Still, we were determined to spend some time outside!! After Evan took a nap in his lunch....

...the boys and I strollered up and headed out for a 4 mile walk.

Walks always involve snacks - Puffs for Evan, and Goldfish for Tyler, as he is demonstrating in the above photo.

After our walk, we headed to the tot lot and Mitch met us there.

Tyler LOVES the swing. He'd stay on it all day if we'd let him.

Evan is taking to it as well!!

It was a fun day with lots of fresh air and exercise. Today is supposed to be just as nice, and a little bit warmer. We'll be heading off to swim lessons in a little while, and I'm sure we'll be walking later on and revisiting the tot lot.

If only the weekend lasted longer!

Deja Vu all over again...

This morning Evan began swim lessons! It was a familiar scene at the rec center pool, with little ones in tiny bathing suits entering the water for the first time. The interesting thing was that Evan wasn't as apprehensive as Tyler had been when he took his lessons (though it's hard to keep him away from the water these days!). As soon as I took his clothes off and set him down, Evan was ready to go!Hold on pal!! First there is an introduction from the instructor that we all have to listen to.

What makes this class even more fun is that our friends Tiffany and Forrester have their youngest, Cameron, enrolled in the same class.
Cam is about 6 weeks younger than Evan, but he outweighs him by quite a few pounds! He's a big boy - sooooo cute!! Here's a flashback of Evan and Cam from last spring:

Time to get into the water!

If you look really closely at that one, you can see the smile on Evan's face. He loved it!!

He even let the instructor use him to demonstrate:

He looks like he's sleeping here, but it was just a bad shot!

I was so pleased by how much fun Evan had in the water. He didn't complain once. Probably the best part about it for him was the one-on-one time he got with Daddy. Tyler doesn't often allow that to happen! Speaking of Tyler...

It was mighty hard keeping him away from the water! He REALLY wanted to go in. I finally had to take him down the hall to the gymnasium and let him run around for a while. Tiffany brought Chelsey down too and Tyler had fun chasing her around!

In two weeks, Tyler will begin a class called "Zoom Around the Room" that is for 2-5 year olds. It coincides with Evan's swim class, so it will keep Tyler otherwise occupied! And in mid-May, Tyler starts his toddler swim class. I'll be taking an exercise class starting in April, so between the three of us, we're giving the county recs department a fair amount of business this season!!
When we got home, a few certain somebodies were pretty tired...

And Tyler took over a 2 1/2 hour nap in his crib! All the while I worked on all the laundry that hadn't been done since before I went to California. Whew!! I'll be at that all day....
Here is some other fun stuff from this week. First, Tyler and Evan having their first taste of Girl Scout Cookies.
Samoas:
and Thin Mints:

And here is Tyler practicing his newest skill on his brother:

Ahhh... it's good to be home!

Ok, so finally, here is evidence of my time in Laguna Beach, CA. I have been here since Saturday night, and will be leaving tomorrow morning.
I have been staying in a Penthouse Suite. It is nice, but I must be spoiled because I don't think it is the nicest room I've ever stayed in (shout out to LaPlaya in Naples, Florida!!). however, the view is spectacular. These were all taken standing on my balcony:

Ok, ok, I have also been working.

Blah, blah, blah. More resort pictures, please....

Here are some shots from outside the meeting room:

Here is a view of my room from the pool area - it's the one at the top left:
Here is a sunset we watched at one of our receptions:
Today (after my visit to the spa!) I had lunch at the resort restaurant, here are some pictures of the view from my table:
Out:
and up:
and down:

Yum!!! Kobe beef! It was delicious.
After lunch, I took a walk on the beach. Beautiful.
Came across all these amazing houses down the beach from the resort (the pictures don't really do them justice though)...

Does someone ACTUALLY live there?!?!
YUP!!!! Wow. More beach walking...

And finally, I put my feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.
So now I will relax and enjoy my final evening in Laguna Beach. Get my last (hopefully) good night's rest before heading home to my beloved boys (all of them!). I am anxious to get home.
But first, one more glorious sunset....

Ahhhhhhhhh...........
