And I’m not ashamed of it! I very proudly display the make-up of my family unit in the form of stick figures on the rear window of my minivan. It’s one of the things I couldn’t wait to do when I got my minivan – buy those darn stickers and put them on!
When I did that, Maddy was just a bitty little baby. Today, I finally accepted the fact that she is no longer so, and it was time to swap out her sticker. She can speak full sentences, make song requests, cop an attitude, and she has a full head of hair. “Baby” sticker just wasn’t a true representation anymore. The “Little Girl” sticker has been stashed away in the top glove box for two years just waiting for this day.
“Little Girl” sticker takes up more room than “Baby” sticker, so I had to move one “Little Boy” and one “Cat” sticker over just a bit. But never for one moment did I consider removing one “Cat” sticker all together. Though Felix is no longer with us, he will remain part of our family forever, even in stick figure sticker form.
So there she is, no longer a baby with a top knot, but a little girl with a pig-tails. My little princess, growing up. In real life, and on my rear window. And Felix? I took the “Dog” sticker (which we’ll NEVER use) and cut it up, fashioning a halo to put over the head of our dearly departed pet.
We're a handsome group, dontcha think?? :)
