Well, since it is 2010, I should be able to just go online and fill one out, right? Right? Wrong. Hard to believe that we are 10 years into the 21st century and the census form still has to be filled out by hand (blue or black ink only, please) and sent via U.S. post.
So what to do if you didn't get a form? They must have them at the post office, right? Right? Wrong. That would make too much sense. To have a government form available at a government building.
According to the census website (they actually have that!!), the closest place to my house where you can get a census form is the "Church of the Word". On Route 29. Next door to McDonald's. *sigh* Since April 1st was the "deadline" to send it in and I wanted to be, "you know, in compliance" (shout out to "Fargo" fans), I had to trek over there to get my form.

Looks like one of the buildings in the Timbuck II shopping plaza in the Outer Banks.... Truly, I have nothing against religion (well, not much anyway), but whatever happened to separation of church and state? I'm just sayin'. Oh yeah - and they tried to recruit me and Maddy!! I practically had to run out the front door. I kept looking behind me to make sure they weren't following us to the car.
But after all that, I am proud to say that I've done my duty, and my family, all 5 of us!, has been counted.
