Wonderful Weekend

It was an absolutely B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L day on Saturday! Sunny and in the mid-70's. The perfect weather to break out the new wardrobe that Mimi got for the boys last weekend...

The only thing we haven't gotten yet is sandals. And so they look a little goofy with their regular socks and sneakers!

But rest assured, later in the afternoon, we strollered up and took a walk down to Walmart where we bought some "sport socks". And sidewalk chalk!!

Here's Mitch trying to get Tyler interested in drawing on our front walkway:

But he was more interested in the car!

So they played in there for a while instead. You'll note that Tyler has a different outfit on. That's because earlier in the day he ended up with his bum in the mud at the tot lot.

We really enjoyed the warm weather. We even slept with the windows open on Saturday night and never got cold! Sunday was cloudy, but still pretty warm. We had our usual busy schedule of classes at the rec center, trips to Target, and of course, the tot lot.

And today is back to chilly and pouring rain!!! Oh well, at least it waited until Monday.

Mimi Visits!!

We had a fun weekend with Mimi!! The boys gave her lots of lovin' and she ate it all up!

On Saturday, as predicted, we did some shopping. It was a rainy, cold day, so what else would you expect us to do?? In the morning, Tyler was napping, so we took Evan out. Mimi got a kick out of their raincoats, so we have pictures:
Evan just wanted to get a little reading in before we headed out.... We went to the bank, and then to Kohl's where they were having a killer sale!! MUCHOS GRACIAS to Mimi who has now provided my boys with their entire summer wardrobe (from Kohl's as well as Old Navy - my FAVORITE place to buy my little ones clothes)!!!
In the afternoon, Evan was sleeping, so we took Tyler out - he didn't cooperate too well on the raincoat photo shoot...

We headed out to - where else? - Target!! I love that place, Mom loves it, and Tyler loves it too! He loves to ride the elevator, so even though we didn't need anything on the second floor of the store, we took a ride up and back down again just for the pure fun of it (from a 2 year old's perspective anyway!) Oh heck, it's fun for us too just to see his face!
Here's a cute shot of the boys that I think was taken Saturday morning, but I can't remember. I just feel compelled to include it!
Sunday was a beautiful day, a bit chilly, but very sunny. So we headed to the tot lot! Not the one you've seen pictures of here on the blog before, but a bigger one in the next community down the road from us.
Tyler loves this rocking thing and does very well on it all by himself! And just look at him on the big kid swing:
In the meantime, Evan did some toddling around with a toy mower that some other child had left behind...
(a side note - BIG shout-out to our new Verizon Fios service which allowed me to upload this large video clip. I never would have been able to do this from home before!) Incidentally, Tyler got a bubble mower like this for his birthday from our wonderful neighbors, Neil and Wolf, so we have a nice, new, clean one that we'll be busting out pretty soon.
And then of course there was some sliding. This is a bigger and better slide than we have in our own tot lot.

After play time, there was some inside hanging out time,
(Note that Evan is now wearing the famous and beloved Janie & Jack slippers since Tyler has outgrown them.)
And then it was nap time.

Here's Tyler snuggling with Mimi after his long, sweaty nap. His hair was all wet and you can see his little flushed cheeks!

After nap time, the boys enjoyed an afternoon snack - where they got to eat the heads off their chocolate bunnies!

I regret that I did not take a before picture, but here is the after:

So that pretty much sums up our weekend. It was a wonderful visit with my mom, albeit very quick!! But she will be back soon - along with the rest of my clan - for Memorial Day weekend.

Ok, one last video that I have to add here. The other night, Evan picked up the dust pan and brush and proceeded to do his version of cleaning up the floor - I think it is HI-larious!!!

*Sigh* I love these kids.

I don't have a title....

... but here are just some things that have been going on in the last week or so.
First off, crazy crib-head continues to plague poor little Evan:

Makes for a good morning laugh for the rest of us though!
In recent weeks, I've been giving Evan his meals in a bowl with a utensil (instead of just dumping it on his tray) so he can start practicing. Here he is trying, but not really succeeding at using the spoon- although he seems to get the general concept:

Not like the first time I handed Tyler a fork and he started chowing down with it like he'd been doing it his whole life. I do realize that he and Evan are very different and I mustn't use Tyler's every milestone as a standard. Sometimes I have to remind myself of that. All this is not to say that I for one second think that Evan is behind because that couldn't be further from the truth. I think it's actually that Tyler is usually a little bit ahead!

Meanwhile, Tyler's obsession with the vacuum cleaner comes to a screeching halt the moment it is turned on. It may be the only thing he's afraid of... In any case, this is the ONLY time he doesn't want to be in the same room as Daddy:

In other developments, Evan has graduated from the high chair to his very own booster seat!

[If you are wondering what they are looking at, they are watching a DVD on Mitch's laptop on the kitchen table. Probably Baby Einstein or Thomas, or Johnny and the Sprites. The DVD player that was hooked up to the TV finally died. It was the very first DVD player we ever got - I don't even remember how many years we've had it, so it didn't really owe us anything.]

This doesn't mean that Evan is completely ready for the the high chair to be put out to pasture...

I guess Tyler isn't quite ready either...

Regardless, I'm giving that thing a good cleaning and it's going in the yard sale pile! The Kingstowne semi-annual yard sale is May 16th and I'm hoping to make even more money than I did last September.

Here's some fun video of Tyler playing with Mr. Potato Head.

This is just a picture I really like of Evan looking sporty with a cell phone:

It still amazes me how much he looks like a little boy now (instead of a baby) since he got his hair cut!! Too cute.

And the shot of the week - after resisting a nap all morning on Saturday, he finally passed out on the couch.

This weekend, my mom is coming for a visit!!! I need to get video of it, but when I ask Tyler "Who's coming on Friday?" He says "Mimi!!" It's very cute. I'm hoping the weather will be nice enough for us to get outside. Who am I kidding? We'll probably spend the whole weekend at Target... :)

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Still a problem...

If I thought that the haircut was going to solve Evan's crazy morning hair problem, I severely underestimated the power of crib-head...

Busy Sunday

Well, we had a very busy day today!! The day started with our weekly trip to the rec center (well, technically the day started hours before that since my boys aren't big sleepers, but that's a minor detail). Daddy and Evan hit the pool for swim lesson #3:
In the meantime, Tyler and I headed down the hall to the "soft room" for Zoom Around the Room! It's a class for 2-5 year olds and it's basically a free-for-all with a little bit of sitting in a circle and singing at the end. Tyler spent the majority of the 45 minute class in the ball pit. I had a very hard time getting him out of there! Unfortunately, there are no pictures because I couldn't take any since I was supervising Tyler, and Mitch was in the pool. Next week I'll try to get some pictures of the room before the class starts.

When we got home, after snack time, Tyler went down for a nap. Evan refused. So Daddy and Evan hung out while I went for a walk. It was a beautiful, warm afternoon, so Evan enjoyed a little deck time, sans pants:

When I got back, Evan had lunch, then fell asleep, then Tyler woke up and had lunch. That's usually the way it is - they nap in turns rather than at the same time. Although sometimes (like yesterday), they go down at the same time which is a nice break for Mommy and Daddy!!

When everyone was finally awake, we headed out again. The time had finally come for Evan to get a proper haircut. I had put it off long enough. Here are some before shots:

Yup, just a little shaggy! And ever since I did that not so great bang trim several weeks ago, Mitch kept saying he looked like he had a mullet and I couldn't have that!! Here is the big event:

Meanwhile, Tyler patiently lounged in the stroller snacking on Goldfish...
Evan was such a good boy!! He sat still for the whole time, well, until the very end when he'd finally had it. He didn't even freak out at the buzzer. And now my baby boy doesn't look like a baby anymore. :(
For those of you that think I dressed the boys up to go to Cartoon Cuts, you are wrong. They were dressed nicely because after the haircut, it was time to pay a visit to the Easter Bunny!!
The Easter Bunny was HUGE!!! In that costume, he must have been nine feet tall. I thought the boys would be petrified, but they weren't. In fact, Tyler didn't want to leave. I believe he would have sat on that bench all day if he could have.
When we got home, we decided to take advantage of the last bits of the warm afternoon and headed to the tot lot.

Phew!!! Big day! Lots of fun. And the boys went down this evening without too much fuss, so I guess we had the right amount of fresh air/activity to tucker them out properly!! Hopefully the weather will be even nicer next weekend and we can spend more time outside.

Time to finish all the chores and get myself off to bed!!
