4th of July - 2010

Did I really miss the entire month of June? Not a single post since the end of May? REALLY?? So much has gone on. I'll try to go back and recap as much as possible, but it will take a couple of posts, I think. So for now I'm just going to give you what's freshest on my mind - the holiday weekend.

Sunday was the 4th of July and it was hot, hot, HOT!!! The temperatures here of late have been pretty brutal. Our lawn, that Mitch painstakingly tries to maintain, is pretty much completely scorched, and it's uncomfortable to be outside unless you're in the water.

We had Mitch's family over for a little barbeque, and we were glad that some old family friends were also visiting. Wally and Joy Dunbar - friends of Fammy and Granddad's that Mitch has known his entire life. They live in NYC and are lots of fun to be around. It was great to have them to our home - and they had never met Evan, nor Maddy obviously, and the last time they saw Tyler he was about 6 months old! So it was great to catch up.

Wally is quite the photog. Below I have mixed in his photos with my own. You'll be able to tell from the quality of each picture whether it's a Wally shot or a Karen shot - his are so much better! :)

First we did some hanging out inside.....

Fammy and her girls!!!

Evan had just woken from a nap, but he took to Joy right away.

The girl cousins!!! Look at those matching blue eyes!

And then it was time to brave the heat and go outside. At least the kids were keeping cool!!

Geez, it's like a mini water park in our backyard! Later on, a few neighborhood children came by to join in the fun. Apparently, Chez Bath is THE place to be on a hot July afternoon....

Luckily, there was some afternoon shade for the adults to sit in!

It was a great day - so fun to have everyone over. And Mitchell made my favorite on the grill - beef kabobs! Great holiday, great company, great food - what more could you ask for?

I'll try to get back on here later in the week to catch up!
