Back on track

Ok, so it turns out the "technical difficulties" were not a Verizon problem, nor a laptop problem, but simply user error. It seems that Blogger has added an extra step when uploading photos and I was missing it. Mitch was happy to remind me that "a poor craftsman blames his tools". Well, a sleepy blogger misses new subtle nuances, so there you have it. Anyway, moving on :).

So on Monday morning, we had the penultimate walk-through at the house. This was our last chance to find anything wrong so they'd have time to fix it before settlement on Friday. There certainly wasn't much to complain about. They failed to move a phone jack to it's proper place that had been pointed out before, but that will get taken care of now. Other than that, just some minor things here and there, nothing to get worked up about. We walked through with the Assistant Building Supervisor, and our agent, Susan. Every nick or imperfection in the paint was marked with blue tape and will all be corrected by Friday. Let's take a tour, shall we?

Here is the front - with the sod all installed and the landscaping in, and our mailbox!

Let's head upstairs....

For some reason, I couldn't get a good angle to get decent pictures of the boys' rooms, so they look super small - but they really aren't!!

Hmmm... I suppose I could have opened the screen door to get a clearer shot!

Back upstairs:

And another view from the outside:

Of the two scrawny trees out front, the one on the right is a Maple (appropriate!!), and we think the one on the left is a Dogwood. So Vermont and Virginia are well represented! And by the way, that was just coincidence. We didn't even know those trees were going to be put there!

We'll be back at the house on Friday at noon for the FINAL walk-through, then settlement at 2:00 p.m. Wish us luck!!

While we were doing the walk-through, the boys went to their new school for a couple of hours to get introduced. I was glad we were able to do this because I didn't want them to be completely shell-shocked on their first day. They did very well. Here is a picture of the outside:

I didn't take any pictures inside, but I'll get some later.

After we picked them up, we went to Burger King for a treat.

As promised - here are some cute pics from the weekend. Ashley, Nathan, and Charlotte spent the night on Saturday. Ashley had to work a 4:00 a.m. on Sunday (Good Lord!!), and Richard was out of town (as were Fammy and Granddad), so we watched the kids for a few hours in the morning until Aunt Kristin came to pick them up.

Saturday dinner:

The Sunday morning "Charlotte Fan Club" !!

Tyler and Nathan chillin' with some 'toons:

Evan and Charlotte making their way through the toy box, toy by toy:

This little girl is only 10 months old and has already taken a couple of steps! She's amazing! My boys are quite taken with her.

I can only hope they'll be as enamoured with their little sister when she arrives!

Nathan and Tyler practicing on the piano:

It was a good morning, if a bit hectic! But the kids have a lot of fun together. This weekend we head to the Outer Banks for our annual vacation, so that should be lots of fun too!!

Your house looks so fabulous. What's the square footage with and without the basement? I'm trying to get a fix on size by comparing with our Old Colony abode. It was 3,100 sq.ft. without the unfinished basement. Your house seemed to be completed so quickly! ENJOY! and all the happiness to you all.
Love,
